A warm solution of wax is applied on areas of hair to be removed. Although many synthetic waxes exist, coarse pubic hairs are thought to be best removed by beeswax. The wax is then covered with little strips of cloth. After the wax cures, the cloth strips are yanked quickly upwards pulling pubic hairs out by their roots. The process is not without pain. Most women report at least moderate degrees of discomfort. This initially intense discomfort rarely lasts more than a couple of minutes with residual, lesser discomfort lasting up to five days. Especially with more extreme waxing procedures such as the Brazilian, proper techniques must be assured. Otherwise, infection can result. Also, bikini waxing procedures are not recommended for those with weak immune systems.
